March 8th is International Women's Day.
It originated in 1857, when a group of women went on strike in New York City protesting against low wages, long working hours and inhumane working conditions. It was the first organized action by working women anywhere in the world. Since then, March 8th is a day to recognize the achievements and successes of women everywhere.
